The DeVouring-Simon Holt @ 6:32 AM

The Vours: Evil, demonic beings that inhabit human bodies on Sorry Night, the darkest hours of the winter solstice.

This isn't how the horror ended for us-this is how it began.

Synopsis (from jacket flap):

When Reggie reads about the Vours in a mysterious old journal, she assumes they are just the musings of an anonymous lunatic. But when her little brother, Henry, begins to act strangely, it's clear that these creatures exist beyond a madwoman's imagination, and Reggie finds out what happens when fears come to life.

To save the people she loves, Reggie must learn to survive in a world of nightmares. Can she devour her own fears before they devour her?

The DeVouring is an engrossing tale of terror that will have you wondering: what if your worst fears became a living nightmare?

Description in one word: Terrifying

This book by Simon Holt will keep you reading until the very end. Reggie and her little brother Henry embark on an adventurous journey into the world of the Vours. Although this book was quite gory at times, it's written very well, and keeps you hanging until the very last page from the minute you pick it up.

I thought that the storyline of The DeVouring was, indeed, a unique one. It didn't have to do with all mystical creatures, but one that is absolutely horrifying. Holt did an AMAZING job writing a novel about one the many terrifying mystical creatures out there.

I recommend this book to anybody looking for a suspenseful read, but can deal with a little gore here and there. If you get creeped out pretty easily, I definitely do not recommend this book to you. I definitely do not get freaked out easily, and this book had me on the edge.
